Telangana’s Director General of Police, B. Shivadhar Reddy, has appealed to underground leaders and cadres of the CPI (Maoist) party to lay down arms and integrate into the national mainstream. He emphasized the importance of renouncing violence and embracing a peaceful life within society. The DGP highlighted that 721 Maoists from Telangana and Chhattisgarh, including high-ranking members, have surrendered over the past two years due to efforts by the Telangana Police.
Recalling Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s earlier appeal, the DGP urged Maoist members to return to their families and lead dignified lives. Those who have surrendered have been provided financial assistance and other benefits under the State Government’s rehabilitation policy. DGP Shivadhar Reddy specifically called on Telangana natives active in Maoist groups in other states to avail themselves of the rehabilitation scheme.
The State Government has promised advanced medical treatment in Hyderabad for Central Committee member Ganapathi, who is reportedly unwell. The DGP highlighted the increasing willingness of Maoist cadres from other states to surrender, indicating growing confidence in the State’s rehabilitation policy. He stressed the importance of democratic solutions and urged remaining underground members to choose a peaceful path for development.
