Telangana’s irrigation minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy revealed plans to create a dedicated agency for ‘Flood Plain Zoning’ in the state. This initiative aims to mark the first river areas for zoning before the upcoming monsoon to prevent flooding. A workshop on Flood Plain Zoning for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, organized by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, saw the minister presenting a comprehensive roadmap to address the severe impact of floods in the state. He highlighted the challenges faced during the devastating September 2024 floods, emphasizing the urgent need for effective flood management strategies.
