Telangana Rakshana Samithi (TRS) leader K. Kavitha has accused the Congress government of plotting behind the establishment of a farmers’ DISCOM. She criticized Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for hinting at maintaining 24-hour free power for farmers informally, demanding an official announcement. Kavitha challenged the Chief Minister to pledge not to seek votes if the remaining two DISCOMs are privatized.
She emphasized that the government’s actions, including the farmer’s DISCOM initiative, raise suspicions due to unfulfilled promises. Kavitha urged the Electricity Regulatory Commission (ERC) to reject any approval that harms farmers. She highlighted concerns over the Rythu Bharosa scheme’s limitations and alleged government failures in supporting farmers, leading to a lack of trust in the Chief Minister’s statements.
Kavitha further criticized the Union Government for allegedly disadvantaging small and medium-scale solar players through recent reforms. She condemned a new directive favoring only Indian solar panel and battery manufacturers, calling for its immediate withdrawal to protect numerous small traders.
