Television actor Vijayendra Kumeria believes that Indian television is evolving, moving away from traditional “kitchen dramas” and “saas-bahu” shows. He discussed this shift while promoting his latest show, “Juhi Mui,” which follows the story of a girl with autism.
According to Vijayendra, both creators and actors are now embracing unconventional ideas, reflecting the changing preferences of the audience. He emphasized that viewers are seeking fresh concepts, leading to a wave of innovative shows on the small screen.
“Juhi Mui” focuses on Juhi Suri, a young autistic woman whose intelligence becomes her strength in a world that often misunderstands her. As the storyline unfolds, Juhi copes with the loss of her father, who protected her from society’s harsh realities. The show airs on Colors channel.
While narratives centered on neurodiversity remain uncommon in Indian TV, Vijayendra expressed optimism about the audience’s readiness for more diverse and unconventional stories. He highlighted the importance of giving individuals space and freedom to grow, rather than being overprotective.
