Telugu film actress and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Karate Kalyani has asked Hyderabad police to file a First Information Report against actor Prakash Raj for making derogatory comments about Lord Shri Ram and the Ramayana. Kalyani, also known as Kalyani Padala, lodged a complaint with the Station House Officer at Punjagutta Police Station.
She accused Prakash Raj of brainwashing children through his theatre project “Nirdiganta” for cultural politics and linking the Ramayana with beef-eating at the Kerala Literature Festival. Kalyani mentioned that his actions violate specific sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act.
Kalyani provided evidence that Prakash Raj made disrespectful remarks about Lord Shri Ram and the Ramayana during his speech at the Kerala Literature Festival in January 2026. She alleged that he equated the Ramayana with beef-eating, which she deemed as an insult to the sacred text and Lord Shri Ram. The actress urged the police to take immediate action and investigate the matter thoroughly.
