Unidentified criminals attempted to rob a prominent temple in Ranchi, resulting in the death of a 55-year-old security guard who was attacked and killed during the incident. The robbery took place at Jagannathpur Temple, where the criminals entered with the intention of stealing the temple’s wealth. Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rakesh Ranjan disclosed that the criminals managed to steal cash from the temple’s donation box after assaulting the security guard. The incident is being treated as both a robbery and a murder case, sparking concerns about the city’s law and order situation and highlighting security lapses in the police administration. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has criticized the state government for the temple robbery, emphasizing the need for improved crime prevention measures.
BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo expressed deep sorrow over the incident, emphasizing the gravity of such a crime occurring in a sensitive area near the State Assembly. Shahdeo urged the government to enhance security measures to prevent further criminal activities in Jharkhand. The deceased security guard, identified as Birsa Munda, bravely intervened during the robbery attempt, leading to a fatal altercation with the criminals.
