Tension arose in Giridih district, Jharkhand, following the suspicious death of a 26-year-old married woman, Bindiya Devi, near her house. Her family from Barhi (Ghatotand) accused her in-laws of harassment, leading to violent protests where the in-laws’ house was set on fire. Security personnel have been deployed by the police to maintain order in the village.
The deceased woman’s body was found in a well close to her residence in Shyamnagar Tola. Allegations of mistreatment by her in-laws fueled anger among her relatives, resulting in the vandalism and subsequent burning of the property. Police intervened to control the situation, with the fire brigade extinguishing the flames after significant damage.
While the woman’s family claims foul play, local sources suggest a history of domestic discord between her and the in-laws. Authorities are awaiting the postmortem report to determine the exact cause of death. Security measures have been heightened in the village as a precautionary measure, with efforts underway to identify and take legal action against those responsible for the arson.
