Candidates demonstrating against alleged inadequate train arrangements for the Bihar Police recruitment exam staged a midnight protest at Patliputra railway station. The situation escalated as protesters obstructed train movement by entering the tracks and chanting slogans, prompting intervention from railway and district authorities. Some officials sustained minor injuries from the stone pelting during the protest.
In response to the incident, security has been increased at the railway station. Police reportedly used tear gas, warning shots, and a baton charge to disperse the crowd. Patna District Magistrate Dr. Thiyagarajan S.M. confirmed that the disturbance was handled with minimal force, restoring peace and control at the station.
Addressing the media, Patna Inspector General Jitendra Rana stated that around 200-250 students obstructed train departure and resorted to stone pelting when authorities requested them to clear the way. To avert any harm to life or property, the police took necessary action, resulting in the dispersal of the crowd. All train operations have now resumed after the intervention.
