Shivamogga in Karnataka faced tension as a Class 10 student, Sanket, lost his life while attempting to rescue his friend Girish from an assault by minor boys in the area. The deceased boy’s family has threatened suicide if the culprits are not held accountable.

Sanket, aged 15, was fatally attacked while intervening in a group assault on Girish on the outskirts of Shivamogga. The incident has led to the arrest of two boys by the police, with the case taking on communal undertones due to the alleged affiliation of the accused boys.

The deceased boy’s elder sister, Supriya, expressed the family’s anguish, stating that they would take extreme measures if justice is not served. She highlighted the prevalence of illicit activities in the region and demanded punishment for all six accused individuals to avert tragic consequences.

The mother of the deceased, Manjula, tearfully recounted her son’s last moments, emphasizing his academic achievements and gentle nature. She expressed her devastation over the loss and the family’s inability to comprehend the tragic turn of events.

Shivamogga City MLA Channabasappa shed light on the incident, revealing that the attack occurred post a special class session. He acknowledged the recurring nature of conflicts in the area and urged authorities to address the prevailing issues to prevent such tragedies in the future.

Shivamogga Superintendent of Police B. Nikhil detailed the sequence of events, indicating that Sanket’s intervention to aid his friend resulted in a fatal assault on him. The police have initiated an investigation to ascertain the full extent of involvement in the tragic incident.
