Thousands of people participated in the 12th International Yoga Day events across Chandigarh, Haryana, and Punjab to enhance fitness and flexibility. In Chandigarh, the main event took place at Tiranga Urban Park in Sector 17, attracting a large crowd early in the morning. Punjab Governor and Union Territory Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria joined the public in focusing on flexibility improvement.
In Haryana, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini led his Cabinet members and government officials in the main event held in Panchkula town. Ministers from various districts also actively took part in the celebrations marking the day. BJP national President Nitin Nabin engaged in the International Yoga Day activities at Lovely Professional University (LPU) near Jalandhar, Punjab, alongside numerous party supporters.
At the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), the CCRYN organized a mass yoga session emphasizing mind-body intervention through yoga. The event saw participation from healthcare professionals, faculty, students, staff, and yoga enthusiasts. Preceding the International Yoga Day, over 350 individuals engaged in ‘Livathon – Yoga for Life’ at Sukhna Lake, where residents of all ages, health experts, fitness enthusiasts, and youth actively joined a special yoga session guided by certified instructors.
In Punjab, Border Security Force (BSF) personnel demonstrated yoga at the zero line at the joint check post in Attari near Amritsar. Chandigarh witnessed the participation of numerous yoga associations and non-governmental organizations at more than 100 locations, underscoring their dedication to promoting yoga and overall well-being. Yogacharya Balwinder Kumar, accompanied by journalists and their families, led a yoga session at the Chandigarh Press Club premises.
This year’s theme, ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing,’ emphasized the importance of holistic health and healthy aging through yoga.
