A Special CBI Court in Lucknow has handed down life imprisonment and a total fine of Rs 1.5 lakh to three individuals for the murder of advocate Inder Dev Singh in 2002. The convicted individuals, Vikram Yadav, Brijesh Yadav, and Panna Singh, were punished in connection with the 2002 murder, as confirmed by a CBI official.
The case, initially registered with Police Station Kaisar Bagh, Lucknow, on August 8, 2002, following a complaint by the deceased’s wife, involved a thorough investigation by the CBI. After taking over the case from the Uttar Pradesh government, the CBI filed a chargesheet on August 7, 2003, against six accused persons, leading to the recent convictions.
Following the trial, the Special CBI Court convicted and sentenced Vikram Yadav, Brijesh Yadav, and Panna Singh on June 30, with the sentencing taking place on July 7, 2026. The court abated trial proceedings against three other accused individuals due to their demise, as stated by the CBI in an official statement.
In a separate case, two proprietors of private companies were convicted and sentenced to three years’ rigorous imprisonment by a Special CBI Court in Pune for bank fraud amounting to a wrongful loss of over Rs 5.5 crore to the State Bank of Hyderabad. Chandrakant Lodha of Chandrakant S. Lodha & Co. and Paresh Thakkar of Thakkar and Sons were the individuals convicted in this case, with the judgment pronounced on Monday, according to a CBI official.
