At least three people lost their lives, and 15 others sustained injuries in a tragic incident when two private buses crashed head-on near the Sehatganj toll plaza in Madhya Pradesh’s Raisen district. The collision took place on the Bhopal–Raisen Road, close to the Umravganj police station, involving buses from Shakti Bus Service and Kalpana Travels.
The deceased individuals were identified as Nitesh Vyas (28) from Panda Tekapar village in Sultanganj, Makhan Singh Lodhi (29) from Pachipura in Begamganj, and Dipesh Ahirwar (19) from Sultanganj. Following the collision, numerous passengers suffered severe injuries to their head, face, and limbs. Ambulances were promptly dispatched to transport the injured individuals to hospitals.
Critically wounded passengers were transferred to Hamidia Hospital in Bhopal, while others received medical care at the District Hospital in Raisen and nearby medical facilities. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed sorrow over the incident and pledged financial aid to the families of the deceased. He emphasized the need for free medical treatment for the injured and dispatched Minister of State Narendra Shivaji Patel to oversee relief efforts at the accident site.
Raisen Collector Arun Kumar Vishwakarma and Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Gupta arrived at the scene shortly after the accident to supervise rescue operations. Initial reports suggested a higher casualty count, but subsequent verification confirmed three fatalities and 15 injuries. An investigation has been initiated, with authorities examining CCTV footage from the toll plaza and gathering statements from drivers, conductors, and passengers. All potential causes, including overspeeding and mechanical issues, are under scrutiny by the police.
Families of the deceased have been notified by the district administration, while medical treatment and support are being extended to the injured individuals.
