Three laborers lost their lives, and one was rescued after an under-construction bridge collapsed in Jammu city, Jammu and Kashmir. The rescue operation, involving various teams like J&K Police, Indian Army, and NDRF, lasted through the night. The trapped workers were under the debris when the bridge section collapsed suddenly.
The operation, which began after the collapse on Friday evening, continued overnight. Heavy machinery like JCBs was used to clear the debris and locate the trapped laborers. Sadly, three workers were found dead, while one was rescued alive and taken to the hospital for treatment.
The Additional District Development Commissioner of Jammu, Thakur Sher Singh, confirmed the rescue operation’s outcome. He stated that one worker was saved, but three others succumbed to the accident. Instances of bridge and building collapses have occurred before in different parts of the country, with accountability and compensation being addressed in such cases.
