Three individuals were successfully rescued from a fire that erupted in the electric meter panel of a residential building in northwest Delhi’s Keshav Puram area early Monday morning. The Delhi Fire Services received reports of the blaze in the electric wiring at 2:03 a.m. at B-4/180, Lawrence Road, near Lal Shahi Mandir in Keshav Puram. Responding to the emergency, fire crews dispatched water tenders, water bowsers, and a Quick Response Vehicle to the scene.
Additional firefighting resources, including a Bronto Skylift and an Assistant Divisional Officer, were sent following distress calls. The fire was contained to 24 electric meters on the building’s ground floor, which consists of a ground floor and four upper levels. During the operation, the DFS team successfully rescued three individuals stranded on the building’s terrace – Gaurav (28), Kaira (25), and Indu Batra (55).
By 2:30 a.m., the fire was brought under control, and a “Stop” message was issued by Station Officer Rajender. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported in this incident. In a separate event last Wednesday, a significant fire broke out in a labor settlement near Udyog Bhawan in central Delhi, where workers linked to the Central Vista redevelopment project resided. The fire, which quickly spread through the settlement, prompted a large-scale firefighting effort by the Delhi Fire Service.
Explosions from commercial and small LPG cylinders at the site intensified the blaze, leading to its rapid spread. Initially reported as an electric panel fire near the Labor Jhuggi area at Udyog Bhawan, the incident was escalated to a Make-4 category fire due to the flames’ intensity. Multiple firefighting units, including water tenders and fire bikes, were deployed to combat the fire.
