Trinamool Congress (TMC) faces internal turmoil as rebel lawmakers plan to meet Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to establish themselves as the authentic TMC. With the support of 19 MPs, the rebel faction aims to form a distinct TMC parliamentary group.
Jagadish Barma Basunia, a TMC MP, confirmed the meeting with Speaker Om Birla on Monday to assert their claim for a separate group and official acknowledgment. The rebel MPs, including Basunia, advocate for a break from the Mamata-led TMC and seek recognition as the genuine Trinamool Congress.
The dissident MPs, united in their decision to split from the party, are resolute in their stance and express willingness to support the NDA in the Lok Sabha. Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, another TMC MP, disclosed that a majority of TMC MPs in the Lok Sabha aspire to be recognized as a distinct bloc aligned with the NDA.
Ahead of their crucial move, the rebel MPs are convening in the national capital to strategize and finalize their course of action. The meeting, expected to include all rebel MPs and West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, signifies a critical juncture in the unfolding political scenario.
