Hollywood star Tom Cruise recently shared his excitement for the film industry’s strong start in 2026 at CinemaCon. Cruise, who will star in the upcoming film “Digger,” posted on Instagram about his experience at the event with filmmaker Alejandro G. Iñárritu, calling him a “dear friend.” The sneak peek of “Digger” was well-received, and Cruise expressed anticipation for its release in October.
Cruise will portray the character Digger Rockwell in the film, which also features a talented cast including Sandra Hüller, John Goodman, and Riz Ahmed. “Digger” is Cruise’s first project with Warner Bros. Discovery since signing a deal with the studio in January. The plot of the film remains undisclosed, with Warner Bros. describing Cruise’s character as a powerful figure on a mission to save humanity.
Directed and produced by Alejandro G. Iñárritu, “Digger” was filmed in the U.K. over six months. The movie, co-written by Iñárritu and others, marks the director’s return to English-language cinema after “The Revenant.” Cruise and Iñárritu are the producers of “Digger,” set to premiere on October 2.
