Amrit Horo, a key leader of the banned People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) and wanted in multiple cases, has been apprehended by Ranchi Police. The Jharkhand government had placed a reward of Rs 10 lakh on his capture.
Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police Rakesh Ranjan acted on specific intelligence indicating Horo’s presence at a wedding in Jamakel village near the Ranchi-Khunti border. A special team, including the Quick Response Team (QRT), conducted a late-night operation to arrest him.
Horo, a resident of the same village, had been constantly changing his hideouts to avoid arrest and was active in the border regions of Ranchi and Khunti. He is currently under interrogation to reveal information about his network, associates, and the organization’s activities.
Accused in various serious cases spanning Ranchi, Khunti, and neighboring districts, Horo faces charges including extortion, arson, and encounters with security forces. He had previously escaped an encounter with security forces about a year and a half ago.
Amrit Horo assumed leadership of the PLFI after the death of Martin Kerketta last year. The police had been on the lookout for him since then. His arrest is anticipated to have a significant impact on the PLFI’s operations and financial networks.
