Women’s top seed Unnati Hooda, along with Tanvi Sharma, Aakarshi Kashyap, and Rounak Chauhan, secured impressive victories to progress in the 87th Senior National Badminton Championships. Unnati dominated Akanksha Matte with a 21-8, 21-18 win, while Tanvi triumphed over Shaina Manimuthu with a score of 21-10, 21-14.
Aakarshi Kashyap also advanced by defeating Lakshya Rajesh 21-7, 21-9, and Ashmita Chaliha outplayed Kavya Marvaniya 21-7, 21-11. However, 16th seed Purva Barve suffered a defeat against M Meghana Reddy in a closely contested match with scores of 21-19, 17-21, 18-21.
In the men’s singles category, Rounak Chauhan beat Ranveer Singh 21-9, 21-13, while D. S. Saneeth overcame Ankit Mondal 21-7, 21-11 to secure their spots in the next round. Sanskar Saraswat, the 16th seed and Guwahati Masters Super 100 champion, started his campaign strongly with a 21-11, 21-13 victory over Shikhar Rallan.
Unnati Hooda and Kiran George emerged as champions in the Odisha Masters 2025 tournament earlier this month. Hooda claimed the women’s singles title by defeating Isharani Baruah 21-17, 21-10, showcasing a dominant performance. Meanwhile, Kiran George won the men’s singles title after a tough battle against Muhamad Yusuf, ultimately triumphing in a three-game match.
