Traffic restrictions will be enforced in Jammu starting July 2, a day before the annual Amarnath Yatra begins. The Traffic Police Jammu has announced route restrictions and diversions to facilitate the smooth movement of pilgrim convoys during the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026 (SANJY-2026) starting on July 3. The first convoy is scheduled to depart from Yatri Niwas, Bhagwati Nagar, on July 2, with departure times set at 4 a.m. for the Baltal convoy and 4:15 a.m. for the Pahalgam convoy.
No traffic movement will be permitted on specific city routes from 3:45 a.m. until the tail of the Pahalgam convoy passes through. The restricted areas include various stretches such as Canal Head towards Shri Banda Bahadur Chowk, Bhagwati Nagar, and R&B Bridge Belicharana towards 4th Tawi Bridge. Additionally, cut-off points will be established on NH-44 at designated locations to control vehicle access during the yatra period, with HMVs restricted after 10 p.m. and LMVs after 12 a.m.
SANJY-2026, spanning 57 days, will conclude on August 28 this year. Due to the declaration of both the South Kashmir Pahalgam route and the North Kashmir Baltal route as ‘no-fly zones’, helicopter services will not be available for Yatris during this year’s pilgrimage.
