At least eight individuals lost their lives, and numerous others were injured in a tragic road accident near Chilakaladona in Mantralayam mandal of Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool district. The incident involved a collision between a Bolero vehicle carrying pilgrims and a ready-mix lorry, resulting in severe impact and trapping multiple passengers. Of the eight casualties, five were pronounced dead at the scene, while three others succumbed to their injuries during treatment at a nearby hospital.
Around 10 to 12 individuals sustained injuries in the mishap and were promptly taken to Emmiganur hospital for treatment. Initial reports indicate that the deceased were pilgrims from Karnataka who had visited the Mantralayam temple and were on their way back when the accident occurred. Police teams swiftly responded to the collision, initiating rescue and relief efforts to aid the victims.
Efforts were made to rescue the injured individuals and clear the wreckage from the accident site, as authorities confirmed the registration of a case related to the incident. An investigation is currently ongoing to ascertain the precise cause of the accident, with further details expected as the probe progresses. This incident follows closely after a bus accident in Punjab that claimed the lives of six pilgrims in Fatehgarh Sahib.
