A tragic road accident on NH-31 near Bagdi Bridge in the Jhandapur police station area of Bhagalpur district resulted in the loss of four lives and left 16 individuals injured on Tuesday evening. The accident occurred when a speeding truck collided with a pickup van, leading to a chain reaction involving an e-rickshaw and a bus.
Four people lost their lives on the spot, while 16 others sustained injuries, with some in critical condition. The injured were promptly taken to the Bihpur Community Health Centre for initial treatment, and those with severe injuries were referred to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital for advanced care. The deceased were sent to Mayaganj Hospital for postmortem examination.
Among the victims, three were from Sameli in Katihar district, and one was from Mansi in Khagaria district. The injured, including a woman, a child, and two laborers returning from work at a brick kiln, are currently being treated. Police are investigating the cause of the accident, with traffic on NH-31 briefly affected by the incident.
