A claim has emerged from Jaipur’s walled city, where the owner of an ancestral haveli alleges that a significant treasure was discovered during demolition but was hidden and misused by the contractor and associates. The Manak Chowk Police Station has filed an FIR and initiated an investigation into the matter. The complaint states that valuable items, including silver ingots, gold coins, and antique silver coins, were found during the demolition process.
The property owner, Rahul Sethi, had reportedly instructed the contractor to hand over any valuables or historical artifacts found during the excavation. However, it is alleged that the contractor and his associates, including Mahesh Malhotra alias Chhotu, kept the discovered items for themselves without informing Sethi. The police are now examining videos submitted by Sethi as evidence of the alleged discovery and distribution of the treasure.
Authorities have registered a case under Section 316(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) based on the complaint. The investigation will involve questioning the contractor and others mentioned in the complaint to verify the authenticity of the evidence. While the haveli’s rich history has sparked rumors of hidden treasures, the police have emphasized that the discovery is yet to be officially confirmed.
The allegations are under thorough investigation, with a focus on determining the veracity of the complaint, videos, and other evidence presented in the case.
