The Trinamool Congress leadership has been instructed to vacate their temporary headquarters, known as ‘Trinamool Bhaban’, situated in East Kolkata. The owner of the building, located in the Topsia area along the EM Bypass, has requested the party to leave due to security concerns arising from post-election vandalism. Montu Saha, the owner of the building and head of ‘Modern Decorators’, verbally communicated the eviction notice to the Trinamool leadership.
Saha has set a deadline for the party to vacate the multi-storey building and stated that the Trinamool leadership has assured him of complete evacuation within the next two months. Despite recent political changes in the state, Saha clarified that the decision was not politically motivated and emphasized that security concerns were the primary reason for the eviction notice. He affirmed that the party had always fulfilled its rental obligations as per the agreement.
Following the 2021 Assembly elections, the Trinamool top leadership had planned to renovate their main office in the Topsia area, leading to the rental of the current building in 2022. Originally intended as a temporary office for two years, the contract was extended for another two years due to delays in the main office’s renovation. Over the past four years, this building has served as the central location for all political and organizational activities of the Trinamool.
