Trinamool Congress councillor Arup Chakraborty has resigned from his position as the party spokesperson, citing personal reasons. In an email to party leadership, he expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and for the responsibilities given. Previously, Chakraborty had also resigned from the Accounts Committee membership at the Kolkata Municipal Corporation.
Chakraborty, representing Ward No. 98 at the KMC, sent his resignation email to Trinamool Congress General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee. He mentioned in the email his efforts to uphold the party’s ideology, values, and philosophy while serving. Despite stepping down from his roles at the KMC, he clarified that he was not resigning from his councillor position.
Accompanied by another Trinamool councillor, Sushanta Ghosh, Chakraborty submitted his resignation letters to Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim. At a subsequent press conference, Chakraborty acknowledged the election results and emphasized the importance of respecting the people’s verdict. Additionally, Trinamool Congress leader Santanu Sen also resigned from the party spokesperson role, accepting the outcome of the state Assembly elections.
