Trinamool Congress’s Abhishek Banerjee responded to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s comments on the Anandapur warehouses fire, holding the Centre responsible for 140 deaths in West Bengal due to the SIR fear. Banerjee criticized the BJP for what he termed as vulture politics over tragedies, emphasizing the need for accountability. He highlighted the immediate actions taken by the state government following the incident, including arrests made in connection with the fire.
Abhishek Banerjee, addressing media outside the airport, accused the BJP of exploiting tragic events for political gain as elections draw near. He pointed out the arrest of the factory owner and criticized the BJP’s approach towards such incidents. Banerjee also questioned the BJP’s silence on the issue of infiltrators in the voter list, alleging deliberate fear-mongering by the central government and the Election Commission.
The Trinamool Congress leader further raised concerns about financial disparities, demanding transparency regarding funds allocated to West Bengal by the central government. He urged for a detailed report on financial allocations for various developmental projects in the state over the past decade. Banerjee emphasized the need for accountability and fair representation in governance, calling out what he perceived as discriminatory practices by the central government.
