A Trinamool Congress leader in Khandaghosh, West Bengal, allegedly assaulted a father and son, pushing them into a pond. The incident, reportedly triggered by the father’s participation in a BJP program, has raised concerns over the delay in the leader’s arrest despite CCTV evidence. The victims were rescued and taken to a hospital for treatment, with a complaint lodged against the TMC leader.
Police sources revealed that a group led by the Trinamool president of the area attacked Deepak Adhikari and his son before throwing them into the pond. Following the assault, Deepak Adhikari filed a complaint at the local police station, alleging initial reluctance by the authorities to register the case. The victims claimed pressure to omit the leader’s name from the complaint.
Allegations have surfaced against the Trinamool leader in the past, including a recent incident where he was accused of assaulting a businessman. The accused leader, however, denied the allegations, stating his involvement was to assist a woman in reclaiming her land. Local residents have accused him of instilling fear in the community, with demands for his immediate arrest by the BJP.
