Trinamool Congress leader Kalyan Banerjee, known for his quick temper and sharp tongue, has been suspended from the Lok Sabha for the rest of the Monsoon Session. This action came after allegations of him using abusive language, especially against female Members of Parliament. Banerjee, a four-time MP from West Bengal’s Serampore, is a prominent figure in the Trinamool Congress but has a history of controversial remarks and clashes.

The suspension followed a complaint by the Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI) to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, accusing Banerjee of verbally attacking party MPs. Banerjee’s confrontational style has led to repeated troubles both within and outside his party. His tendency to make unfiltered remarks has not spared even his own colleagues, creating internal rifts and public spats.

Despite being considered a loyal aide to Mamata Banerjee, Banerjee’s recent outbursts, including at a party rally and on social media, have led to his suspension. Over the years, he has been involved in verbal altercations with various political figures, including former Trinamool MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar and West Bengal’s Governor at the time, Jagdeep Dhankhar.

Party insiders describe Banerjee as a brilliant but combustible leader, known for his impatience and legal acumen. While he maintains popularity in his constituency, his standing within the Parliament and the party has been questioned due to his controversial behavior and statements.
