Trinamool Congress legislator and former journalist, Kunal Ghosh, linked his party’s recent defeat in the West Bengal Assembly polls to unveiling internal traitors. Ghosh, a staunch supporter of Mamata Banerjee, highlighted that the loss was crucial to unmasking dissent within the party. Specifically targeting the rebel faction led by Ritabrata Banerjee, Ghosh emphasized that the defeat was necessary to reveal the true faces of these dissenters.
Ghosh expressed mixed feelings initially but later acknowledged the positive outcome of the defeat. He noted that a victory would have emboldened opportunists and criminals within the party, leading to increased corruption and arrogance among leaders. Ghosh further explained that the defeat prevented non-political figures from exploiting political platforms and safeguarded the interests of dedicated party workers.
According to Ghosh, the election results, though unfavorable, have purged the party of detrimental elements. He emphasized that under Mamata Banerjee’s leadership, committed party members will propel Trinamool Congress forward. Despite the current challenges, Ghosh believes that the party is being strengthened for the future by weeding out undesirable influences.
