A Trinamool Congress legislator from Canning (Purba) Assembly constituency in West Bengal, Saokat Molla, lodged a police complaint against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Molla accused the CEC of orchestrating the removal of genuine voters from the constituency’s electoral list.

Molla stated that numerous authentic voters, some listed since 1980, were eliminated during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision. Approximately 33,000 names were reportedly deleted within three days. He emphasized that the Election Commission of India’s actions are jeopardizing democratic rights, with the CEC allegedly playing a pivotal role.

Expressing concern over the situation, Molla mentioned plans to file a similar complaint in the neighboring Bhangar Assembly constituency. He alleged that the ECI’s actions seem biased towards a specific party, leading to disenfranchisement of genuine voters.
