Two individuals were arrested in Murshidabad district after a group, including Trinamool Congress MLA Monirul Islam, damaged the Farakka Block Development Office and the Electoral Registration Officer’s chamber. The incident disrupted the voter list revision process at the office.

The ruling party workers’ actions led to the suspension of the voter list revision hearing. The BDO office in Farakka filed a complaint with the police, resulting in the arrest of two suspects under relevant laws for the vandalism.

Protesters, under the leadership of the TMC MLA, caused chaos at the BDO office, alleging mistreatment of citizens during the voter list revision. The mob’s actions halted the Special Intensive Revision process due to the violence and slogans against the Election Commission.

Monirul Islam criticized the voter information verification process, accusing bias against the minority community. He condemned the Election Commission’s alleged vindictive behavior and expressed readiness to face legal consequences for his protest.

BJP MLA Gouri Shankar Ghosh condemned the TMC’s actions, labeling it as the party finding faults in the revision process. He called for strict measures against those responsible for the vandalism at the BDO office.
