Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra encountered protests from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in Kaliganj, Nadia district. During a meeting at the Trinamool office on National Highway 34, BJP supporters gathered outside, throwing eggs, cow dung, and stones. Despite the commotion, Mahua continued her activities, even going live on Facebook from the office.
The situation escalated as BJP workers showed black flags to Mahua upon her arrival. She confronted them, leading to further tension. In a video shared on Facebook, Mahua was seen being targeted with eggs and stones. Police intervention proved ineffective initially, with central forces eventually restoring order at the scene.
Although the protests have calmed down, a few BJP Mahila Morcha members and Trinamool workers are still demonstrating outside the office. Despite the chaos, Mahua remained unharmed and continued her meetings inside the party office. The BJP claimed the protests were a spontaneous response to perceived developmental failures in her constituency.
