The President of a Trinamool Congress-run Zilla Parishad and a Chairman of a municipality previously governed by another party in West Bengal stepped down from their roles on Friday. Uttam Barik, the President of the Trinamool Congress-run Zilla Parishad in East Midnapore district, submitted his resignation to the divisional commissioner. Kamalakanta Chakraborty, Chairman of the Trinamool Congress-run Katwa Municipality in East Burdwan District, also resigned from his position. Barik mentioned that the state government would decide on appointing a new member or placing the Zilla Parishad under an administrator. Chakraborty cited health issues as the reason for his resignation.
Kolkata Municipal Corporation Mayor Firhad Hakim, who recently announced his resignation, officially stepped down from his position on Friday. Hakim explained that due to changes in circumstances, he could no longer effectively manage the responsibilities of the Mayor’s role. He expressed respect for the position and the individuals who held it before him. Hakim had previously overseen municipal affairs and urban development in the state.
