Trinamool Congress leaders Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee, in a virtual meeting with counting agents, expressed confidence in winning more than 200 seats in the West Bengal Assembly polls. The meeting, attended by all Trinamool counting agents, candidates, and key leaders, discussed the party’s performance and strategies.
Mamata and Abhishek reportedly mentioned that the Bharatiya Janata Party was favored in exit polls to influence the stock market, a tactic they claimed was used in previous elections as well. Abhishek criticized the BJP’s expectations of forming the government in West Bengal and accused them of financial deceit through fabricated surveys.
Abhishek Banerjee projected that Trinamool would secure a higher seat count than the 215 seats won in 2021. Mamata commended party workers for their unwavering dedication and highlighted alleged mistreatment by central forces. She assured support for those affected and emphasized the need to monitor the vote counting process closely.
Trinamool leaders instructed counting agents to report developments at the counting centers promptly and request recounts in case of narrow margins. They emphasized the need for agents to remain present throughout the counting process and leave in groups after the winner is declared. District observers have been appointed to oversee the counting process, with Abhishek also criticizing the Election Commission for alleged partiality.
