Tripura Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath recently initiated the export of the state’s organic agricultural products to Gulf countries through a Dubai-based organization. This move is seen as a significant step in broadening the international market access for Tripura’s farmers. The Dubai-based organization, known for its extensive operations in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and procurement networks spanning over 85 countries, will be facilitating the export.
The consignment includes 1,300 organic scented lemons, 182 kg of organic ‘Kalikhasa’ aromatic rice, and 350 Queen pineapples bound for Dubai. These organic agricultural products have been sourced from various Farmer Producer Companies in Tripura. Minister Nath highlighted the dedication and hard work of the state’s farmers and Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs) in producing high-quality organic agricultural products, leading to successful exports.
Tripura’s foray into the global market for organic produce has been gaining momentum. Previously, the state exported 10,000 kg of organic dried bird’s eye chili to Germany. The recent export of organic fragrant lemons, organic Kalikhasa aromatic rice, and Queen pineapples to Dubai marks another significant milestone in Tripura’s organic farming journey. Minister Nath expressed satisfaction in the growing international recognition of Tripura’s organic farming practices.
The state government’s consistent efforts to promote organic farming by focusing on value addition, certification, branding, and market linkages aim to ensure that farmers receive fair prices for their produce and improve their livelihoods. This export initiative not only strengthens Tripura’s position as a producer of premium organic agricultural products but also expands its presence in overseas markets. The Minister emphasized the importance of enhancing market linkages to support farmers and boost the agricultural sector’s growth.
