Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha highlighted the significance of blood donation, calling it a valuable gift to humanity. He stressed the importance of raising awareness about voluntary blood donation to encourage more people to participate in this noble cause. Saha, who oversees the Health and Family Welfare portfolio, mentioned that donating blood not only saves lives but also helps donors stay informed about their health status through regular medical check-ups.
The Chief Minister urged everyone to embrace all forms of donation, including blood donation, while maintaining a proper balance between blood collection and utilization. He noted the presence of 14 operational blood banks in the state and the establishment of blood component separation centers in various hospitals to enhance transfusion services. Saha also acknowledged the improvements in Tripura’s healthcare infrastructure, which have reduced the need for patients to seek treatment outside the state.
Saha expressed the government’s commitment to further enhancing and modernizing the healthcare delivery system to offer advanced medical services locally. He highlighted the progress in medical education, mentioning the availability of approximately 550 MBBS seats and nearly 200 postgraduate medical seats across three medical colleges in the state. The government aims to continue improving medical education and healthcare services comprehensively.
During the event, 48 voluntary blood donors were honored for their contributions to society, while seven individuals who donated blood multiple times were recognized. Additionally, the Chief Minister unveiled the cover of the Health Department’s quarterly magazine, ‘Swasthya Sangbad.’ The event was attended by key figures including Dr. Biswajit Debbarma, Dr. Debashree Debbarma, and B.K. Roy.
