Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha highlighted the media’s significance as a reflection of society and urged journalists to stay informed in the age of artificial intelligence and globalization. Speaking at the Tripura Working Journalists Association’s event, Saha stressed the necessity for journalists to adapt to the changing landscape. He emphasized the need for news to be delivered honestly and with integrity to align with the evolving times.
Saha, who also oversees Information and Cultural Affairs, inaugurated the Bi-Annual State Conference and Journalist Workshop, themed ‘Embrace the Change.’ He commended the media-friendly approach of the state government and underscored the value of professional journalism training. The Chief Minister referenced Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for enhanced efficiency across all sectors.
Recognizing the media’s role as the fourth pillar of democracy, Saha praised Tripura journalists’ capabilities and the government’s efforts for their welfare. He mentioned the state’s coordination system for receiving daily updates on various issues from different administrative levels. Saha traced the media’s evolution from newspapers to social media, emphasizing the importance of accuracy and responsibility in news reporting to prevent misinformation.
Emphasizing the impact of truthful journalism on society and democratic values, Saha unveiled ‘Madhyam,’ the Tripura Working Journalists Association’s publication. The event was attended by Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy, Association President Bijay Pal, General Secretary Sunil Debnath, and other senior journalists and delegates.
