Tripura’s Director General of Police (DGP) has set up a three-member team to investigate the mysterious death of former DGP Anurag, whose body was discovered at the state police headquarters in Agartala on July 20. The team, led by Superintendent of Police Namit Pathak, includes Additional Superintendent of Police Dhruba Nath and Sub-Inspector Subhojit Deb, who is currently handling the case.
The order allows the SP (West) to involve officers from the Tripura Police Crime Branch if needed and seek technical support from the Cyber Crime Unit. Weekly progress reports on the investigation will be submitted to the Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) for the DGP’s review. Anurag was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the washroom attached to his office on July 20.
Anurag was laid to rest with full state honors in his hometown of Baraut, Uttar Pradesh, on July 22. Before the cremation, the Uttar Pradesh Police paid tribute to Anurag for his dedicated service as a 1994-batch IPS officer. Various dignitaries, including Tripura Governor, Chief Minister, and senior officials, paid their respects to Anurag in Agartala.
