Nath emphasized the state’s focus on sustainable farming practices to boost farmers’ income and enhance agricultural output.
The Minister, after overseeing a review meeting on organic agricultural production, marketing, and expansion, expressed commitment to doubling farmers’ income through organic cultivation. Tripura has shifted its attention to cultivating high-value organic crops like Kalikhasa rice, scented lemon, various pineapple varieties, bird’s eye chilli, ginger, and sesame. Nath noted the state’s success in exporting organic products valued at Rs 17 crore to different parts of India and abroad.
Efforts to promote organic farming in Tripura have led to a significant increase in demand for products such as bird’s eye chilli, ginger, turmeric, and pineapple in various markets. The state is implementing a Rs 234-crore project, supported by the Central government and the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, to enhance marketing, processing, and value-addition infrastructure. Tripura is gearing up to celebrate International Pineapple Day in Delhi on June 27 to further boost the popularity of its flagship fruit.
