Tripura introduced 50 Mini Mobile Veterinary Units (MMVUs) to bolster animal healthcare services, especially in remote regions. The initiative, inaugurated by ARD Minister Sudhanshu Das, aims to provide quick veterinary treatment and essential services to livestock farmers. These units will offer services like treatment, vaccination, and disease diagnosis directly at the farmers’ doorsteps.
The deployment of MMVUs was a part of the State Budget for 2024‑25 to modernize veterinary services in Tripura. With difficult terrain limiting access to veterinary care, these mobile units will reach rural and inaccessible areas. The state, which currently has 13 large Mobile Veterinary Units, will now benefit from additional support through the newly launched MMVUs.
The ARD Department in Tripura is focused on enhancing livestock and poultry healthcare, increasing meat and dairy production, and creating employment opportunities in animal husbandry. The department emphasizes preventive measures like free vaccination drives and curative care through mobile veterinary teams. Livestock farmers can access services by calling a toll-free helpline, ensuring prompt assistance within 24 hours.
