Director General of Tripura Police (DGP) Anurag was cremated with full state honors in his ancestral town of Baraut, Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat district. Anurag’s son, Abhishek, performed the last rites at the cremation ground near Bawli Chungi on the Delhi-Saharanpur highway, attended by family members, senior police officers, and numerous mourners.
Before the cremation, Uttar Pradesh Police paid tribute to Anurag, a respected 1994-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the Tripura cadre, for his exceptional service. A funeral procession, with over 500 people including police personnel from Tripura and Uttar Pradesh, administrative officials, residents, and well-wishers, was held to honor Anurag.
Anurag, a highly regarded 60-year-old police officer from Biharipur village in Baghpat district, had his mortal remains brought from Tripura to Baraut. His sudden demise in Agartala led to an outpouring of grief and tributes from various dignitaries and the public. An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
