President Donald Trump has accused China of orchestrating a campaign to interfere in US elections, alleging that Beijing aimed to undermine his presidency, acquire millions of American voter records, and conceal its actions within the US intelligence community. Trump announced the immediate declassification of intelligence records related to election security, revealing what he called “shocking vulnerabilities” in America’s election system and years of alleged Chinese efforts to influence US politics. The President claimed that China conducted the largest compromise of election data in history, acquiring 220 million US voter files containing personal information.

Trump criticized US intelligence agencies for not informing him or Congress about the alleged Chinese interference in the 2020 elections. He cited declassified CIA reports suggesting that Beijing tried to influence both the 2018 US midterm elections and the 2020 presidential race. According to Trump, the Chinese government aimed to reduce his votes, make him resign, or prevent his re-election by leveraging opposition elements. The President also accused China of attempting to undermine domestic confidence in him and influence major American companies to oppose his administration.

Trump further alleged that Chinese activities included manufacturing illegal ballots for Joe Biden, as indicated by raw FBI intelligence from 2020. He claimed that reports on China’s election activities were withheld from his daily intelligence briefings, and directed intelligence agencies to investigate the withholding of information. The declassified records will be publicly available on the White House website, with Trump emphasizing that the goal is to address vulnerabilities and strengthen confidence in the election process.
