US President Donald Trump accused Iran of violating a ceasefire in the Strait of Hormuz, expressing readiness for strong retaliation. Trump revealed that bullets were fired, including at a French ship and a UK freighter. American representatives are set to engage in negotiations in Pakistan to address the conflict.

The strategic Strait of Hormuz is a focal point for US-Iran tensions, with two tankers recently reversing course due to the situation. Trump emphasized that Iran’s actions have disrupted regional stability and claimed that US actions have effectively halted traffic in the area. He highlighted the economic impact on Tehran, stating that the closure costs Iran $500 million daily while the US faces no losses.

Despite offering a diplomatic solution, Trump warned of potential military action if negotiations fail. He asserted that Iran would face severe consequences, including the destruction of power plants and bridges, if they reject the proposed deal. Iranian officials, however, indicated that negotiations are still far from reaching a conclusive agreement.

The Strait of Hormuz, a vital passage for global energy supplies, remains a point of contention. Vessels are hesitant to navigate the area due to uncertainties and threats from Tehran. US officials are reportedly gearing up for stricter enforcement actions at sea, including boarding Iran-associated oil tankers in international waters.
