The Trump administration emphasized on Friday that global supply chain weaknesses are not limited to China, urging governments to reduce reliance on vulnerable “single points of failure” to bolster the global economy. Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs Jacob Helberg pointed out that the issue of over-concentration in supply chains is a broader concern, affecting countries beyond China. He stressed the risks posed by heavy dependence on limited production and logistics hubs, leaving international trade susceptible to disruptions.
Helberg highlighted the critical need to address vulnerabilities in supply chains for long-term economic stability. He emphasized the importance of reducing reliance on single points of failure, whether in logistics or industrial sectors, to safeguard the health of the global economy. The remarks followed Helberg’s recognition of India as a potential “comprehensive partner” in the US-led Pax Silica initiative, citing bilateral cooperation in technology and economic security.
