US President Donald Trump stated that TikTok played a crucial role in his election victory, highlighting his popularity on the Chinese-owned app as evidence of its influence. Trump, speaking at the White House after launching the “Trump Accounts” investment program, emphasized that he was the most followed political figure on TikTok. Despite concerns in Washington about national security risks, Trump questioned the perceived threat posed by the platform.

Trump’s remarks came in response to discussions regarding TikTok’s future in the US and the potential for American investors to take ownership of the platform. While acknowledging policymakers’ worries about the app’s Chinese ownership, Trump expressed skepticism about the claims of espionage and security risks associated with TikTok. He pointed to his own success on the platform as a counterargument to these concerns.

The President highlighted his dominance on TikTok, surpassing even celebrities in recent audience rankings. Trump revealed that he had raised the issue of TikTok with Chinese President Xi Jinping, advocating for American companies to acquire the platform. Despite recognizing China as a formidable competitor, Trump underscored the platform’s popularity among American users and the benefits of American ownership.

Trump’s stance on TikTok reflected his belief in the platform’s positive impact and downplayed the security concerns raised by critics. He emphasized his significant presence on TikTok and the platform’s role in his electoral success, dismissing apprehensions about its Chinese ownership and potential security risks.
