US President Donald Trump stated that Iran has expressed interest in negotiations following recent US retaliatory strikes but raised doubts about Iran’s reliability in honoring any agreement. Trump emphasized that the US would continue responding forcefully while focusing on preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. Trump, speaking aboard Air Force One after the NATO summit in Turkey, highlighted the US’s strong response to attacks on commercial vessels.

Trump asserted that for every attack from Iran, the US would respond with significantly greater force, emphasizing a ratio of 20 to 1 in retaliation. When questioned about the potential escalation to full-scale military conflict, Trump mentioned that Washington had various strategic options available. Despite Iran’s eagerness for a deal, Trump expressed skepticism about their commitment to honoring any agreement due to concerns about Iran’s trustworthiness.

Trump underscored that the primary objective was to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, emphasizing the importance of denuclearizing Iran. He dismissed concerns about a security threat prompting an aircraft change in Turkey, clarifying that it was for personnel viewing purposes. Trump also addressed the successful NATO summit, highlighting unity within the alliance and discussing future troop decisions in Europe in relation to Greenland and Iran.
