US President Donald Trump stated that any sanctions relief for Iran would be linked to buying American agricultural products. He emphasized that Iran would never be permitted to possess a nuclear weapon under the ongoing negotiations. Trump, speaking from the White House after addressing quantum technology, provided detailed insights into the productive talks with Iran and the normalization of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

Vice President JD Vance and a US delegation are engaged in discussions with Iranian officials in Switzerland. The negotiations cover Iran’s nuclear program’s future, maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, and regional deconfliction mechanisms. Trump mentioned the possibility of sanctions relief, highlighting that any released funds would be directed towards purchasing food from the US exclusively.

Trump emphasized that the unfrozen funds would be utilized to procure essential food items like corn and soybeans from American farmers. He clarified that the intention behind easing sanctions was to address humanitarian needs in Iran. Trump expressed optimism about the progress of the negotiations, indicating a positive trajectory towards a fair and reasonable agreement.

While refraining from disclosing specific enforcement strategies, Trump cautioned that the US would take action if Iran failed to comply with the terms of any agreement. He dismissed the notion that Iran had gained leverage, asserting that recent military actions had significantly weakened Iran’s military capabilities. Trump praised Vance’s efforts in the negotiations, commending his performance during a news conference in Switzerland.

Trump highlighted the resurgence of energy shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, noting a substantial increase following recent tensions. He underscored that the strait was fully operational, with record oil imports processed. Trump concluded by affirming his readiness to act if Iran violated the agreement, emphasizing the importance of ensuring Iran’s compliance with the negotiated terms.
