US President Donald Trump showcased a new ballroom project at the White House, emphasizing its “drone-proof” military-grade design. The project, funded by private donors and Trump himself, will serve ceremonial and national security purposes. Trump highlighted the reinforced roof’s capability to support military operations and advanced drone systems, dubbing it a “drone port.”
The ballroom complex, integrated with extensive underground security infrastructure, extends six stories below ground level. Trump emphasized the protective role of the ballroom, acting as a shield for the underground facilities and military infrastructure. The structure features “impenetrable steel,” four-inch-thick reinforced glass, and internal air conditioning and ventilation systems for security reasons.
Drawing inspiration from classical Greek and Roman styles, the ballroom’s architecture includes elements reminiscent of the US Supreme Court building. Despite expanded military requirements, the project is ahead of schedule, with private donors and companies contributing nearly $400 million. Trump criticized previous administrations over infrastructure spending in Washington, highlighting the ballroom’s solution to logistical challenges at the White House.
