US President Donald Trump has indicated that his administration is close to concluding peace negotiations with Iran, stating that they are in the final stages of discussions. Trump expressed willingness to wait a few more days for what he termed as the “right answer.” He mentioned that a deal could be reached or hinted at potential repercussions if an agreement is not achieved.
Trump emphasized that he is not rushing to finalize a peace deal with Iran and dismissed the idea of a limited agreement centered solely on reopening the Strait of Hormuz. He underscored the importance of giving the negotiation process a chance without considering a partial compromise. The President highlighted that he is not under pressure to expedite the discussions, mentioning that the upcoming midterms do not influence his pace.
In a separate development, Trump mentioned having a positive phone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who is viewed as a significant mediator in the US-Iran talks. Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps issued a warning against potential US and Israeli aggression, cautioning that any such actions could escalate beyond the West Asia region. Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi also cautioned about the consequences of engaging in conflict with Iran, citing a US Congress report acknowledging significant losses in a previous military encounter.
