German football club TSG Hoffenheim has secured the services of Austria’s Patrick Wimmer, a 25-year-old midfielder, from Wolfsburg. Wimmer, who missed recent matches due to injury, signed a contract with Hoffenheim until June 2031 after a 10-million-euro release clause was activated. The club’s sporting director praised Wimmer’s offensive versatility and Bundesliga experience, highlighting his fit with Hoffenheim’s playing style.
Wimmer expressed his excitement about joining Hoffenheim, citing the team’s progress and attractive football as key factors in his decision. Having previously played under coach Christian Ilzer at Austria Vienna, Wimmer looks forward to reuniting with him at Hoffenheim. Starting his career at SC Sitzenberg-Reidling, Wimmer has since played for various clubs, accumulating 125 Bundesliga appearances and representing Austria internationally.
With 30 caps for Austria and experience in top European competitions, Wimmer brings a wealth of experience to Hoffenheim’s squad. His signing comes as Hoffenheim prepares for a challenging season in the Bundesliga, UEFA Europa League, and German Cup. Wimmer’s journey from lower-tier clubs to the international stage reflects his dedication and talent, making him a valuable addition to Hoffenheim’s roster.
