A turbulent weather spell is expected to affect Madhya Pradesh, with the India Meteorological Department Bhopal center cautioning about thunderstorms, lightning, hail, and strong winds across various districts. Moderate thunderstorm activity, accompanied by lightning, hail, and wind speeds of up to 60 kmph, is anticipated in several regions including Sidhi, Sanjay Dubri National Park, East Anuppur, and North Neemuch. Additionally, areas like South Neemuch, West Anuppur, Amarkantak, and others are likely to experience light thunderstorms with lightning during the evening hours.
The Meteorological Center in Bhopal has warned of gusty winds reaching 60–70 kmph in parts of Datia, Bhind, Rewa, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, and Niwari. Several districts, such as Bhopal, Vidisha, Raisen, Sehore, Rajgarh, and more, are under observation for thunderstorms and winds ranging between 40–60 kmph. The bulletin emphasizes the potential damage from hailstorms to crops, fruits, vegetables, and structures, advising farmers to take necessary precautions like covering crops and protecting livestock.
As per the IMD bulletin, the weather conditions are influenced by a western disturbance and cyclonic circulations over certain regions, leading to storm activity until May 8. With the looming threat of gusty winds, lightning, and hail in various districts, residents are urged to stay cautious, adhere to official guidance, and take necessary safety measures to mitigate risks to life, property, and agriculture during this volatile weather phase.
